Individual substance abuse therapy in an outpatient setting
Transformations Recovery offers individual outpatient counseling to our clients as either a standalone treatment plan to address substance abuse or behavioral health issues or as a supplement upon completion IOP programs.
Clients with underlying mood or behavioral disorders as well as substance abuse issues often find it particularly beneficial to their long-term stability, when they are able to continue seeing a knowledgeable counselor, after they complete IOP.
What does counseling involve?
Transformations Recovery recognizes that no two persons are exactly the same, including their substance abuse and behavioral treatment needs. In our Outpatient Counseling program, you’ll work directly with a counselor to determine a personal treatment plan designed specifically for you. Your therapist will talk with you, do an evaluation of your physical and mental state and help you work out a treatment plan that can point you towards a healthier, more satisfying life.
For many people, talking and exploring their issues with their personal counselor is the only therapy needed. Together, you and your therapist can explore your feelings and look at options to help you manage your challenges.
In other cases, a combination of counseling and medications is the best solution. Many conditions such as depression, ADHD, and anxiety disorders respond better to this dual approach. Sometimes there is a physical cause for the way you’ve been feeling; like most other physical conditions that cause discomfort, the right medication can relieve or eradicate the symptoms.
Transformations Recovery’s initial intake process includes a comprehensive medical, psychological and social assessment which identifies a client’s need for services and appropriate level of care. This assessment provides an accurate diagnosis of the client’s current condition and becomes the foundation for a holistic treatment plan and determining progress during treatment.
Input from loved ones as well as the client’s history and perception of their condition are essential and valued. Any co-existing disorders or pertaining to medical issues are also evaluated at this time.
Our counselors develop a working treatment plan for each client that addressing the individual’s current condition, where they need to be, and a timeline to achieve these goals. At a minimum, the treatment plan serves as a basis of shared understanding between the client and staff. The degree to which the individual is motivated to change behavior and lifestyle is a critical factor that has a bearing on whether motivational enhancement interventions and sanctions are appropriate.
Support from the client and loved ones or family members (if applicable) is an integral part of the plan. Throughout treatment, the primary counselor and supervisory staff provide support to both the family and individuals.
When deemed necessary, clients are referred to an on-site psychiatrist for evaluation and follow up.
